Following the exit of his manager, Bankulli from DB Records, multi awards winning artiste, D’Banj has appointment a new agent to oversee the management of his musical career and other entertainment businesses.
The name of his new world wide manager is Tonya Merrit. She is the Managing Director of T. Merritt Group, Africa’s foremost branded entertainment, live events and multimedia firm.
Speaking with Entertainment Rave, Tonye said this is not her first time of working with D’Banj. “I have been working with D’Banj for some time now. We have always worked together and I’m working fully with him now. I’m the worldwide agent for D’banj and DKM Media”.
Tonye continues that she has been a regular feature in Nigeria since 2006. “I have been coming to Nigeria since 2006 when I launched my company here and it’s been really great”.
She also spoke highly of D’Banj’s talent. “D’banj has a great talent, he is a great entertainer and he never cease to amaze me. There is an artiste who is also a friend of mine we normally called the world entertainer. So the first time I watched D’Banj performed, I told him that the award of the great entertainer has been taken away from him”.
A small cross section of her recent work would include representing the Entund Network (a network developed by the Smith Family of Hollywood), procuring and negotiating licensing deals for Cedric the Entertainer’s and T.D. Jakes’ independent productions across the Continent, producing branded entertainment content for Vodafone, MTN, Samsung, Cell C, and delivering highly sought after talent such as Trey Songz, Amber Rose, Brandy, Chante Moore and Joe to various venues throughout Africa in Q3 2011 alone.
